Ok this is kind of a dumb question and I apologize. I work at a company fairly small around 50 employees we have someone who basically keeps our pcs running who knows absolutely NOTHING about pcs. We have a local company that handles our IT work keeping up our server and employees pcs, they are absolutely HORRIBLE beyond your wildest dreams. TO put it short we have a 10 year old server that goes down about once a week or more and the indivudual employee pcs are probally just as old mostly Pentium 2 cpus and all running win 98 with 2 or 3 on XP, yes I know this is retarded but nothing we can do about it she may not know anything about computers but you tell her one thing about them and she is instantly a IT genius. Anyway to my question I know this is probally beyond a noob question but it does not cost anything to add a user to a Novell Netware 5 server does it? Excluding costs for a pc or network connection that is not in the equation but just to add one more user to the sever does not cost anything other than time correct. According to her "she who knows all" it will cost between a few hundred and a thousand dollars and I know she is full of crap. All the pcs connected are running windows 98/xp and she is talking about just adding a user so that everyone at work can actually all log in at the same time. Am I correct, I am pretty sure I am I just wanted another opinion.

To add another user to a netware 5 server costs nothing.
But if all users must be able to log in at the same time, depends on the installed license at the netware 5 server.
E.g.: If there is installed a 5 user license and you need 6 users logged in at the same time, you have to buy an additional license. As far as I know, the smallest license is a 5 user additional license.Paul

Thanks that might be the problem maybe she is not THAT retarded after all I belive currently we have between 25 and 30 employees that all need to connect all day (8-5pm) But there are a few who log in as other people and I dont know what liscence she has so she could actually be right for once. Oh and I just have to add this and please share with all your buddies this is regards to our server and its ability to get hacked and our IT guys response. One of the employees who talks often with the it folks thought the server may have been hacked into as we get soem spam in our email accounts with the @whatever.net email address. So she brought that up to the IT guy and he told her oh its impossible for the server to get hacked because it was built before the internet (Come on honestly you cant be serious) he goes on to say that since it was built before the internet that it can not be hacked ever, she asks him well how is it you can log in and work on the server (we outsource to a different company so they will often remotely access our machines to trouble shoot) and he say well I have usernames and passwords. We only have one server and we have shared broadband in the office so that one server is probally sharing the internet access to all the various pcs in the office and in any case it is connected to the net because they do online updates all the time. Yes that is the caliber of IT folks we have keeping our pcs up and running.

hope u r not diverting from the real issues ...please specify what r ur requiremnts
and stop balmming ur incharge for it ..please gives us enough data for the solutionlet the mind be in charge than machines .
