Comment:

We would like to allow some users to access files files from their home. Our stand-alone server is configured for our private network only. How could we apply this change?

Besides security issues, what other aspects deserve consideration?

What would be an effective step order to apply these changes?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Netware 6 was designed with remote access in mind, so you're off to a good start.

Unlike M$ at the same time, Netware 6 is very much based on a web-remote, e.g. HTTP, SSL, model.

Very basically:

decide whether netstorage, ifolder, or FTP-S is the right software for the kind of access required.

modify DNS and SLP on the server side.

make sure the server's web certificate is accepted on the client side (you may find it better to buy a trusted cert)
