My server is receiving multiple abend errors and the CPU is subsequently haulting. I can not run the vrepair utility, as the server won't boot. How do I run the vrepair utility from the dos partition? Are their any dos-base volume repair utilities. My main goal is to retreive data off the drive.

How far can you get in the boot process? Does the server automatically load on power up or do you have it set so you manually load the server (type server at the c:\nwserver prompt)? If you manually load the server, try loading: server -na
That will prevent the autoexec.ncf file from loading. Manually load the the initial lines of the autoexec.ncf. This will also help to determine where the abends are coming from. Its a tedious process, but it may get you far enough to run a vrepair.

If your server loads automatically, get a Novell DOS boot disk. Boot from it, and then edit the autoexec.bat file. Rem out the line that loads the server. It should read: server Change it to: REM server

Hope it helps.
