I have a G3 iBook and I'm wondering how I find out if I have a wireless card pre-installed on my machine and if so, how would I connect to a wireless hot spot at say, a Starbucks?

Hey Michael,
You can download a program called mactracker, and that will let you know everything about your mac config and what it came with. But if you go to system prefs and select network, then next to SHOW: select network port configurations. If airport shows up, then you have the card installed, if not then you don't. If you have it installed, then all you have to do to join a network is click on the airport symbol that appears at the top menu bar close to the clock and select the network that will be listed. IF you have any questions feel free to reply or email me at grkdimi13@mac.com. Hope this helps.
