OK, I've been poking around with Windows File Sharing in OS 10.2 but am not sure how to connect remote windows users. When I turn windows file sharing on (having set a user to "allow access from windows", I still cannot connect from windows (I've also done the password reset thing as described in Apple help docs). Problem is, I'm trying to connect the windows user from across the internet (NOT from a local machine on a LAN). Is this possible ?? OS 10.2 tells me that windows users can access the machine at "\\my_internet_address\ my_user_name" but, so far, it has never worked. No login dialog is ever presented. Has anyone set this up and got it working ?? Is there anything the windows user must do other than type the address in windows explorer ?? Is there more that I need to do to make such a scenario work ?? I want to be able to access my home machine from work. Anyone know of any good tutorials/ steps. Mac OS help seems to imply that all I need to do is turn of Windows File Sharing and I'm in business ... but its not working that way.

OK, nevermind, I figured it out myself. Its \\ my_computer_name\folder_name if on a LAN. For it to work across the internet, the format is smb://ip_address\folder_name. I couldn't find this in any help docs. Hope this helps someone else ;-)
