My MacBook wont play youtube video's ... Correction it play's the video when I go into the Channel but not if I just search a video and click it ... Then it just shows up as a black box where the video should be. I can also play videos that are on other websites that are youtube videos.

Im not sure what's wrong ... or what I should do? Can anyone help?

I forgot I'm using Safari and I just updated my Mac to Mac OS X 10.6

So, I haven't found a solution for Safari yet but I have found a temporary fix. At least temporary if you are set on using Safari ... if not then I found that Firefox or Opera have worked for me.

I am really used to Safari ... so I really hope to find a solution with Safari. If anyone figures it out let me know ... and if I figure anything out Ill let you all know :)

and @X86 I do have the latest Flash Player and Java ...

i'm having the exact same problem with loading videos using safari. it's a black box and only plays when i go into the user's channel. And the videos can play normally on google chrome, however, it lags. So the picture hangs while the audio is still running. it's so annoying! anyone help? it's just been this last week that i've been experiencing it.

So, Opera stopped working too ... it still played video's on youtube but I couldn't pause or go into full screen. I haven't tried using google chrome but I guess I could try. As of now I am using Firefox 4 it's a beta version but it runs well and it plays videos.

@Jane55 Thank you for that link it's really helpfull (It came in handy with a project I was working on) but not the answer I was looking for. It's cool knowing how to download youtube videos but I would really prefer to find a way to make youtube work with Safari again. :/

Go into system preferences and click on flip4mac. Check for updates. Update it and then try youtube. It worked for me.

I had the exact same problem. All the youtube videos would not play. They would apear as black screens with not even a play button.
I was only able to watch them on the channel itself.

I deleted Adobe Flash player from my Macbook and then newly downloaded and reinstalled it after that I updated my macbook and restarted it.

After doing that everything was back to the good old ways ;)

Hope that helped.
