Macs aren't better than pc's nor are pc's better
than macs..
It's all about what the computer is being used for.

They're cheaper.

Seriously. TCO *still* makes Macs about 35% cheaper to own for three years than PCs.

They're less crash-prone.

There's no Big Brother spyware tracking your every move (i.e., Windoze).

They *work*, unlike Linux, for the most part. You can sit around and say how great Linux is until you're blue in the face and it won't make it a damn bit easier for a novice computer user to sit down and install it and work with it. I've been using computers since 1988 and I *still* don't have any particular desire to go mucking about in a CLI when I need to make my Ethernet card work (Linux) or change my video resolution (Red Hat in particular) or get an 802.11b card working (Linux) or get Bluetooth working (anything besides Mac OS)...

Most free *nix software is either already available for Mac OS X or will be soon (or will easily recompile, though this isn't something most newbies or even OS 9 veterans will want to do routinely).

Want me to keep going?

The Macīs advantage is not only its nearly perfect OS, itīs the hardware. The Motorola processors inside the Mac seem to lack speed cause of their `low` MHz, but just think about the fact that a īsuper fastī PC is slowed down by ANY piece of additional Hardware on itīs bus. The Mac is a completely īharmonizedī machine, any piece of Hardware fits to each other. Another thing is, that the Processor works with shorter and with less instructions, giving another advantage concerning speed.
Off course I also agree to pickle, concerning stability, security and the easy use of the Mac OS.

Hope this did answer your question.

Just take a look at the figures...

http://www.digitalvideoediting.com/2002/07_jul/features/cw_macvspc2.htm
and refrase your question...

There is no winning this discussion though. MAC users for some reason just can't be convinced by the naked figures and refuse to see what's in front of their eyes. Fact is that MACs can't keep up anymore be it in speed, compatibility, choice of hard or software, games, pricetag...

Furthermore a decently installed PC like the Dell mentioned in the test with W2K or XPinstalled is as stable (probably a lot more stable if you run W2K) than any MAC out there running whatever OS you choose. Memory management has always been the problem child of the MAC's and while this may have been resolved with OSX this OS will also require you to upgrade all of your software if you don't want to run it in some compatibility mode. Ease of use is no longer an issue, with the coming of XP a child can configure the system, that's if you let them cause you can just as easily grant multiple users acces with different rights, different desktops, their own settings. Multiple user sessions can be open at the same time, no need to shut down the system if dad wants to use it for five minutes, just leave your applications open, open another password protected session and swith between users.
I could go on like this for a while but i would rather challenge any MAC-user. Give me 1 reason why i should buy a MAC and I'll give you 3 why you shouldn't (someone care to take up the gauntlet?)

My system:
Athlon XP 1600+
Triple boot: Windows 98, Windows 2000 server, Windows XP
512 MB Ram
Three harddisks (80,20 and 12 GB)
Graphics: MSI Nvidia Geforce 4 ti 4600
21" CTX Trinitron monitor

Not the fastest PC-system around (that has to be the 2.8 Ghz pentium 4) but it'll kick the hell out of anything but the heaviest, dual-processor MAC out there at half the cost and it does a far better job at playing games than any MAC (or any console for that matter).

Further to Aztec's words of TOSH!!! Obviously a
Sad blinkered PC user. All of the above arguments are Totally misguided you've not heard about Apples OSX!!!! I run OS9 OS10.2 Windows 98. I have 5 separate user's on my Mac and yes no need to re-boot just log-in. 5 separate desk tops 5 secure user's!!! I run OS9 and OSX at the same time using Quark OS9 Photoshop OSX No Problems.... And as for stability I have been running OSX for 7months and have only had to reboot from a crash 3 times....There is no PC out there that can say the same......!!!!!!! and as for take a look at the figures take a look at the user's Gauntlet taken UP>>>>>>>And as for give me a reason to buy a MAC Ill give you one QUALITY......
