I have a mac, os8.5 with ie 4.5 and although I can get connected, I can not Browse. I use freeppp and I have entered the dns, as well as trashed the prefrences and I still can't browse. I have tried to enter in the ip address in the browser address bar with no luck. and I do have a modem that is v.90 and I am connecting to a server that is also v.90. does anyone have anything that I might try to resolve this issue? if not does anyone know of a place where I might find some more info on the logistic of it all. Thanks

try moving the mac tcp/dnr files to your desktop, reboot and try to browse. just make sure you still not specifying ip. and you should be able to browse.

Listen dude: You have an internet setup assistant within OS 8.5. You should use it. Toss all that freePPP shit and go with TCP/IP & Remote Access that the Mac OS comes with. Get all your info ready (DNS servers, mail & news servers, domain addresses, logins, passwords, modem info, etc, etc) so when the assistant application asks for it you have it ready to key in. I would do a clean install of the O/S first, as you don't seem to know what your doing by trashing stuff and keying i/p addresses into browser windows and things like that. You may not have all the needed software components for the Internet setup assistant and R/A , TCP/IP still resident. Stay with the basics right out of the box and you should be okay.
