Okay, I have been considering purchasing a Macbook\Pro. My niece got a Macbook for college and is going to Italy for 3 weeks and told me to take her Macbook and check it out. Now, all of my experience has been with pc's since 1988 and Windows since 1991. I have heard of many people switching to Macs and never looking back because of the operating system and ease of use...etc. I would like some other compelling reasons to switch from the gurus here. How about 3 big reasons to make the switch? All opinions and suggestions are respected and appreciated.

How about for the moment you envision a machine unhidered by spyware, unhindered by virus' and using all its CPU power just for you and your programs. Sounds sweet doen't it.

The need to not constantly clean and check your machine for menaces from the web and email is a huge incentive that MSoft would move the world in order to achieve it.

On the software front the days of being limited to certain types of software for Mac are truely gone. The abundance of great freeware and payware makes it very appealing.

I've been using Mac for a couple of years and will never go back. 'Cause everything just works as it should.

Just as added insurance when buying new, have a look at getting the iCare pack for the added hardware protection as repairs can be costly once out of warrenty but the same can be said for PC notebooks too.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the reply. Great tips and info. It sounds like Mac users genuinely enjoy their computing experiences. That's the way it's supposed to be, right? A different mindset altogether. Thanks again.

One more thing while I am here. How good are apple displays. I have heard and read lots of different opinions concerning their quality. I currently have a 17-inch Samsung 730B LCD and have had it for 2 years and it serves me well. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I doubt you'll find a better display than Apple's. Dell's is the
only one that comes close.

I find the only problem with Mac's is the lack of 3rd party software. Good and specific freeware for MAc OS X is hard to find sometimes, wether the progam you want is for older Mac OS' or Windows/Linix .exe a proper .DMG or .SIT can be hard to find, but with a little persistince and some good google-ing you can get through the inconvenice :) overall though, I love Mac's!

A Macintosh is just another intel boxed PC these days. I really wouldnt waste the money unless your investing it in a G5, or G4 laptop. Intel\Steve Jobs = the enemy.
