Whenever I try to install a download, I get a message that I need to choose an appication to open the document. There are several listed but none of them allow me to open. What should I do to be able to install the downloads?

not sure,
what is this file/program called, and which extension (*.zip,*.sit *.dmg)it has, would help to assist as to how to open file,

have you alread tried stuffit expander,search:
pur mac compression software

the download is for adaware.exe.......

adaware.exe is for a PC, won't work on a Mac.

adaware.exe is possibly a virus, suggest scanning with virus scanner:
clamXav

(*.exe) files are windows executables, you might be able to expand with stuffit expander,to view files , but not use, unless within a Virtual PC program,

if you were looking for ad-awareSE, check at www.lavasoftusa.com,
for mac spyware scanner, try at securemac:
Macscan
