Hi every1!!
I'm trying 2 get online with Basilisk II, and on it's manual it says this:
----------
You don't need to have Basilisk II ethernet driver installed, actually even an ethernet card is not necessary. But you must have the ethernet installed on the Mac side. In your emulated Mac TCP/IP control panel
----------
Where do I get "the ethernet"?? where do I get the Mac TCP/IP control panel?? I have a MacTCP control panel...is it the same??
Thanx all!! ;)El-Trucha

you NEED to have network card if you are going to use ethernet connection through the cat5 cable otherwise how would you physically networking to the network hard ware.

Well, I do have a network card...I just wanna know where I get "the ethernet"!! (the Ethernet software...)
Thanx!! ;)El-Trucha

read here:(or do the search for "mac networking")
http://www.macnn.com/MacTips/archive/tip30.shtml
http://www.lowendmac.com/network/index.shtml

http://www.vision.net.au/~apaterson/computer/mac_networking.htm

Macs use a driver called "ethernet- built in" if it's built in, or various other similar drivers depending on the card..for basilisk you just need to put the "built-in" extenion in your system...only so you can install open transport, which has the tcp-ip control panel...it should have been installed by most any version of 7.5.3..if you can only see the MacTCP control panel you may have to use an app called "network software selector", if I recall correctly and select open transport...i would suggest you read the basilisk documentation closely, especially the one referring to networks..there's an alternative driver you can install in windows that gives you an "ethernet over ethernet"...can't remember what it's called, but it's suggested as an alternative in the docs if the regular direct connection doesn't work...
I'ts all in there..
The virtual mac envoirment *must* have open transport installed though..that's what has your tcpip control panel..
I suggest you re-install OS753 and select in custom install the open transport...
You can do the custom reinstall over your existing 753, it wont'hurt anything...
Sorry, i cant remember specifically which button you pick for custom install, but just click a few and see what happens (maybe a dropdown list on the easyinstall button ?)...Since i got a good mac i havent had to re-install MacOS at all, so i've forgot a bit of stuff....

I'm thinking you need a pci card FE-551
and you can get one at MacMall. Talk to
the tech people there first and tell them
what your trying to do.It looks like your OS maybe old, but 7.5.1
and later should be OK.Once physically installed and the soft
ware on the CD that comes with it
installed, go to the control panel>TCP/IP
and click on 'Connect via' and select the
Ethernet card. Select 'Configure' and
make the necessary changes.

No, I just got it...;)
But there's a problem: some of my addresses don't work!! :( like my DNS address...:(
What do I do??
Thanx!! ;)El-Trucha
