hello

thanks

I have OS X 10.1. sitting here and 10.2 as well sitting here

SHould I reformat the hard drive or just install over it??

i did all the backup finally

i just want a stable OSX and it was all perfect until i updated to 10.1.5 from 10.1.1

Is there a way to not lose FInal Cut Pro 3?
I cant find the original install disk.
can I copy the whole program to a DVD-r?

Well, I would try installing 10.2, then, if it fails again, do the reformat. I'm not sure about final cut pro, but if you know where all of the files are from it, you can copy them over. If you have the serial, apple might give give you a CD cheap, else try downloading it somewhere (I'm not sure if it is legal, but if you lost the cd, i don't think it is too bad). Good luck

thanks for the input

ill find the FCP disk, i just didnt want to search for it but ill find it

but installing 10.2 onto 10.1.5 wont erase any of my files or programs right?

also 2 quick questions

is there a online tutorial on how to REFORMAT a MAC HARD DRIVE and factory fresh install the OS....

and secondly

IS 10.2 way better and more stable than 10.1....not just because its newer but is it really alot more relliable and addresses alot of features not just updates to calender, etc.

UPDATE

i was able to take the file sout of the trash bin into a Directory in the desktop

I was able to delete all the stuff one by one that was trash

except for oe file

that I have pin poin to be the problem

its a video file that I captured 2 days ago.

i messed with the read and write priveledges and still it would not erase..

so for now I left it in the desktop and will not delete it

this is so weird, that the OS thinks this video file is VERY important for it not to delete it and actually cause a KERNAL PANIC no matter what.

very weird , anyone have any further clues?

thanks
