OS: 10.15
CPU/Ram: 450 MH 1 Gig Ram
Product: mac g3
Comment:

I recently bought some DVD+R discs to do a
backup, as my burner (a newish LG multi)
apparently supports this newer format..
So far, i have had no problems with DVD-R using
toast, and IIRC this particular LG burner even
worked natively, burning from the mac desktop
(alas, no iTunes support, as usual!), however
DVD+R discs don't work right..the mac desktop
ID's them as 308 MB cdr blanks, and then spits
them out.
Toast burns to, *and* verifies these disks as
succesful burns, but they don't mount on the
desktop, I just get an 'unrecognized file system'
error message, with the normal 'initialize, ignore,
or eject' options.
It's impossible to do a proper google search for
DVD+R, bercause the "+" character is not
accepted, althoug I've read comments that would
seem to indicate that DVD+R is *not* supported
and will not work on at least, older versions of the
MacOS..as the drive supports it fully, i expect it's
an OS support issue..
Anyone informed about this, and happen to know in which version
of OSX (if any) did support appear? I'm still using
10.15 so if it's (DVD+R support) in any pre 10.4
version it might be motivation to get a newer
version.
But is it?
Thanx..!

OK.. I was aware that 10.4 likely supported it, as
the new intel Macs' superdrives do..
Rather, I need to know when support first
appeared- so that I know whether the problem is
my drive or the OS I'm currently using (as I pointed
out, it's 10.15)
Thanx...
