What is the kotoeri ?

OS: Mac OS X 10.3
CPU/Ram: PowerPC G4/256M
Comment:

purchased iBook G4 in the U.S and I found the input
method "kotoeri" in the System Preference ->
International -> Input menu.
Is it default program for all Mac OS X?

It's Japanese. The default would be the language you
chose when installing the system, or started up the new
machine.

Thank you to respond my question.
However I chose english when I started up the machine at
first. I want to know how the program was installed.
