Yah..., the only downloadable drivers on
the hawkings website are for PC.
You can't download the ones for mac.
Instead of a download link it say "please
contact us".
What I don't understand is that it's just a
dog gone driver. For petes sake..., don't
those hawking techies have any better to
do with their time?
Who wants to spend their day responding
to requests for a file that's probably not
even a mb in size?
Nevertheless..., their website didn't help
at all.
I guess I've no other choice but to bug
them via the telephone.

No, you do have another choice.
Get a webcam with Mac drivers.

I suppose contacting them wasn't exactly high on your priority list, huh, since that's exactly what you were instructed to do and all...

That's the problem! I have tried
contacting them. I called both numbers I
& Emailed their tech support & customer
service.
I provided all the essential info..., ie: serial
no. model #, dat & place of purchase.
When I called..., I was put on hold by
voice prompts.
They've not replied yet.
I know I'll have my dam webcam drivers
eventually ...,
I just want them now.
I'm sure you could relate to this sort of
dissapointment.
It was on sale so a got it & was so
excited about video recoring myself
(doing magic). Then I get it home plug it
in & nothing happens.
I immediately went to the hawkings
website because i knew the problem had
to be "driver" related.
After clicking & toying with their website.., I
tried calling.
I figured that my only other option would
be to take it to the masses (the web).
There's a good possibility that some
where, some how,
someone will have the driver I need.
So I searched for the most suitable forum
to post my request & that's what brought
to this one.
I'll be the first to admit that I tend to have a
cut throat sense of determination when it
comes time for making something work..
It's called a control issue & it will probably
die when I do.
Nonetheless..., I so much appreciate
you're response.
Don't be to friendly because I'm a big
dummy when it comes time for knowing
certain (basic) computer things.
Give me a solution once & I'll think you're
God... (heehee).
They love me on the apple discussion
board.
I never go away.
Regardless.., the more I learn the more I
have to give.
So the next time you've an OS problem or
need some help with MIDI.
Let me know...OK

peace!
Spaceboy

It's pretty unlikely that anyone else will have had better success if you can't get a driver. I mean, we're all just average customers here.

This is why I generally check out products *before* I buy them, however. If I can't determine for sure that I'm going to have easily available drivers before I buy, I won't buy.

Aint that the truth!

A smart consumer is someone who
knows how to ask the right questions!
Nothing could be more true.
This is something I'm learning.
In fact.., this entire situation with my
webcam..., It was sooooo preventable!
Had I only known what to ask for.., I
could've avoided the hassle.
Well.., Monday morning I'll be dialing the
hawking digits.
Do you have a webcam? If so.., which
one?

Can't you return the one you just bought? Wouldn't that be a lot easier? :)

Come on peoples' ..., cut me some
slack...!
A guy needs to be stubborn & determined
once in a while.
For the most part..., my general attitude in
life is that I'd much rather be happy than
right.
My webcam stopped being the issue the
very moment I found out it wasn't working.
After that..., my attention was on the
"hunt".
Beg, sell, or barrow..., I was going to find
what I was looking for.
(This is the part where ya'll need to tell
me to get a life.)
I spent the majority of my weekend
searching for the appropriate drivers & I
was relentless about it.
Well..., IT PAID OFF!
I found my drivers & I'm a pig in mud!
All I had to do was find out what kind of
controller chip was inside my webcam.
After researching it a bit I finally learned
that the chip was a OV511 chip.
The minute I saw that it was an OV511.., I
knew it had to be made by a company
called "OmniVision".
So I went to their website download page
& BINGO... THERE WAS MY STINKIN'
DRIVER!
I installed it & plugged in my webcam & it
worked.
But now I want to return it because the
picture quality sucks.
After all that trouble...:-)
NOT... I'm yankin' the chain.
Truth is that the quality is actually quite
good..., especially for the price I paid for it.
I am the kings queen of web investigative
strategies!
I can find anything!
(this is the part where you tell me to get a
life again).
All in all..., the experience proved to be
entertaining & that's worth something
more than nothing.
Thanks for the insight folks!
I'll be back with a link to a URL as soon
as I've recorded something & uploaded it.
I'm a magician so I'm always video
recording myself doing illusions.
Ya'll will be the first to know!

Peace out:

AJ
ps.: I chant too. "Nam myho renge kyo."
(heehee)
