I have found a deal on the refurbished 20-inch iMac with 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB, 250GB for $999 . Are the refurbished ones reliable? It is covered by Apple's one year limited warranty.

Well personally I think if you can get a new one, just avoid the refurbished.

Yes, the refurbished ones are reliable. It's actually a good way to by one, that way you know every machine has been fully tested, not just a few off of a run. Most of my family/friends buy refurbished Macs to get a good deal.

And yes, they have the same one year warranty as the new Macs, and you're able to buy the extended AppleCare warranty for them just like the new ones.
