I'm mostly running on os 9.2.5, and I got a
message
bounced back from a server (wot i never sent a
message to ) advising my attachment was
infected with the W32/Netsky-P virus... ?!?

My norton anti-virus software didn't pick it up
(though i ran it from os x) is this possible? Does
anyone know how i can delete the bugger if it's in
there?

cheers,

Hmmm...i've been recently wondering if it were possible for a Mac to act as a "carrier' for a PC virus without it being detected on the mac (my AV hasn't once found any virus, and it's a totally kept up to date version of Virex 6..so i don't know if it can even detect a PC virus)..
Your question makes me wonder even more now...
However, if you know you neither use that server yourself, or sent anything off that direction, be prepared for the possibility also that it's one of those hoax or spoofy spams with a fake virus..particularly if it's a message you never sent..that would pretty much prove it as one- often they try to get you to log in to some site for a "free" online virus clean...in which they "analyze" your harddrive (and all sensitive info contained within)...
Maybe try a Google search for any info about that "W32/Netsky-P and see if someone else has written about it...?

Yes, Macs can be carriers for PC viruses. I found that out
at work when I sent an infected email from my Mac to a
co-worker who had a PC. My Mac scanned clean... The
NetSky virus is an actaul virus, that effects the inbox of
Netscape Mail.

If nothing else, report it Norton so they can (maybe) post an
update for the Mac Anti-virus software.

Someone could have spoofed your email address and they are using it to send out spam, etc. Just a thought. Also, if you use Virtual PC for Mac you could probably infect a PC with a virus.
