My friend found out she has two viruses in
her PC; PSW Hooker and W32 Bugbear.
I received an empty attachment from her
without her sending it, which others also
have, who got the viruses.
I'm new to all this, so...
Are these viruses Mac viruses?
Can virus transfer from a PC to a MAC???
I use Outlook Express, which is a
Microsoft/windows product, no? So could
some bugs attack both computer
systems?
And even if I didn't get them could I have
passed them on when sending emails,
because they're in my system?
Can I safely delete that attachment,
without anything happening?
Is it recommended to have Norton anti
virus installed on your Mac?
Thank you so much for your help.
Sincerely
Bliss

Last time I saw a Mac virus "in the wild," so to speak, was about 1998.
That said, until I switched to OS X, I kept virus protection software on my computer and kept it up to date, although I only ran it once every few months, just to be sure.
Macs cannot be infected by any W32 viruses, although the various Word macro viruses are cross-platform.
Macs *can*, however, pass on infected e-mails, but only if you intentionally forward the infected e-mail to a Windoze user.
