I recently installed Windows 98 and XP on Virtual PC 5.04. But i tried to run several games on the system and they all install fine but always give me an error when I decide to run. One says it couldnt find HAL and the others are unknown cause XP just tells you to send the error report in. Basically i would like to ask is am i missing files? Or am i missing hardware drivers for video (for example)....i have some that require a 3D video card and when i go to my options it doesnt display any video cards. Is there anyone who has installed PC and either of these two OPS and had any luck with PC games and what did you do to make them work? The games were Tiger Woods PGA golf and Grand Theft Auto THree...Star Wars Rougue Squadron 3D

I have got version 4 and it runs some
windows games, and crashes on others.
But it runs a cool online poker game like
a dream, and thats all i use it for as it is
not available for mac. If it was i would
never use windows again!

You have several problems:
1) Connectix explicitly says that VPC is not good for
running games.
2) VPC has no built in support for hardware 3D
accelleration. (right, so I can't spell.)
3) VPC Runs only runs as a Pentium II MMX.
4) Most importantly, you're running VPC 5, which is
an absolutely TERRIBLE waist of software space. If
you want ~any~ performance at all, do yourself a
huge favour and upgrade to VPC 6. Actually, if you
want to run Wintel machines, get a wintel machine
just for that. I use VPC 6 myself, but not for gaming,
it's just not designed for that.----paxcirc.a-
