Help Please! I just bought and installed Virtual
PC with XP Pro. Starting XP crashed my OS 9.1
and OS 10.2 and had to reinstall both. I'm afraid
to retry, fearing I will crash the OS again. (Also
afraid I dumped $230 on this software. )

Any suggestions?

Thanks very much!

Virtual PC uses the expanding drive technology
so that as the need for drive space increases so
does the drive image. If you Put this type of drive
on the same partition as your boot system and it
crashes, it will typically take the boot OS with it.

! thing you must do before running VPC5 in 10.2.1
is update VPC5 to 5.0.4. This will fix some minor
issues with compatibility.

The best favor you could do for yourself is get
VPC on a partition by itself. You can just do this
the next time you have to reinstall as it is probably
too much of a pain to do right now. If VPC crashes
on it's own partition you can just format it and
reinstall VPC with no ill effects to your OS.

Thank You! I do have v. 5.0.4. I haven't yet called
connectix, but I/m not sure it gave me the option to
install on a different partition or drive. I tried to
install it on an external firewire drive, but only the
Virtual PC program made it there. The Windows
XP Pro OS wound up on the internal drive.
Thanks again.
