hi, i want to install red hat linux on my Mac thru virtual PC, since i dont have a cd burner i downloaded the two .ISO files (cd1 , cd2) and the boot.IMG. it all goes good booting thru the boot.IMG as a virtual floppy, but is there a way i could run an .ISO file on my MAC as a virtual CD? is there a way to mount the ISO file?
Thanks
Andre

I don't know about that, but I don't mind burning you a copy of Red Hat Linux and mailing it to you. Just e-mail me your address.
In turn, you can figure out what I couldn't.
Linux installs LILO to the master boot record of a PC to start LILO. Virtual PC doesn't seem to HAVE a regular MBR, so when the installation is complete, I boot up and get the "Missing Operating System" message.
If you make it work, please tell me how.

i need help with the iso file. i download 2 things of linux.. i dont know how to do anything with them, i need help setting it up. i want to learn so i can help other people later on. so if u know any good sites or know anything that can help me, e-mail me at digitalpimp192@yahoo.com

Hi,
You can install redhat linux directly from a .iso file without having to load any other third party utilities. Its install loader anaconda is capable of mounting .iso images of the 2 cds and read the installation files from there. If you still want to know how, email me at bparba@ph.net.- Bart

An ISO file is the entire contents of a CD saved to one file. Once these are download you use CD burning software (such as Easy CD Creator) to make the CD based on the image. Thb beuty of then is that you can be pretty certain that the CD is an exact copy of the original file the CD was made from. They are popular mainly because it's an easy way to distribute bootable CD's.
