I have a beige G3 that I have already upgraded the proccessor to a G3 533mhz. I would like to upgrade the video card so my kids can play a few games. The machine is running 10.1.5 . Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I've seen the ATI Radeon™ 7000 MAC card for
around $130. It's a 32MB card with pretty decent
2D/3D accelleration. For the money, you can't do
much better. It has DVD support, including S-
Video out, DVI and VGA connectors.

Heck, I wouldn't mind one to upgrade my second
video card in my G4.

You could probably find a lessor card on eBay, for
less money. But, I think this card is a good choice.

So, you have TRIED the games on your
G3 and found the current video to be
unacceptable? What's your basis for
wanting a new card?

Or, perhaps he's walked into a Computer store
recently and looked at some of the requirements
for new games.

The video card will certainly help with rendering
in OS X as well.

thanks for the recomendations, i was wondering what is the difference between the "mac" ati radeon 7000 and the pc/pci radeon 7000, other than the price.

Probably the only difference is the firmware on the
card.

If you're wondering about using a PC Video card
in your Mac... I don't know any way of flashing the
PC ATI cards for use in a Mac, and this probably
goes against the license agreement for use of the
card.

There are other sites on the Net that explore this
realm, if one was interested.
