Using Bootcamp on iMac

CPU/Ram: iMac
Product: Apple iMac

Because of Bootstrap, I can make change to Mac. Using Word and Xcel and P/S Elements. Can I access same documents from both systems or do I have to keep duplicate documents in seperate partition? Can documents be kept on a seperate drive and be accessed by both systems?
