I recently tried to connect my PowerBook G4 (2.1) to a printer on a PC network. Despite trying almost every combination of parameters in the Printer Setup Utility, the effort was a dismal failure.
Maybe I messed up some vital settings. Now I am having great problems using USB printers that previously worked well. At one location, the Lexmark Z42 will print the test page from the Setup Utility, but always returns "printer not responding" when told to print a document. At another location, the Epson Stylus Color 440 will print one document only, then gives "printer not responding" until I do a restart.
