Hi there! I got a PCI USB card, and just bought an external USB hard disk case, fitted with a 6,4 GB IDE drive (Seagate). Although i installed the case's driver, MACOS cannot see the drive! any clues??

Did you install the latest USB DDK from Apple?

Is the drive set to Master?

Got another drive you can test the enclosure with?

Does Apple System Profiler see it? How about TattleTech?

Yes, tested it with another drive, still no luck! What is Tattle Tech??
By the way, after installing 1.4.1 DDk i got an error message after booting, the Finder told me "the USB Support Extension is currently disabled" Although i checked the Extensions in Profiler, no extension seems to be deactivated!! Any clues?

There needs to be something called USB Mass Storage support in there, or at least there used to be.

I know i should, but the Extensions Manager showed that it was active! Anyway, i uninstalled 1.4.1 DDK, and went back to 1.3.5 which appears to send no errors to the Finder. However, the external USB hard disk still doesn't work! It isn't the USB controller card's fault, because i borrowed an external USB floppy drive, and it worked immediately. Any suggestions??

Nope, sorry..
The enclosure is supported by both Winblows platforms and Mac. It actually works superbly over Win 98...

USB card doesn't like the enclosure?

The card is from OWC, the enclosure is from In System Design. it's a PENR35-2000 model.
I took it to a friend and hooked it up, and it worked there perfectly! i even formatted the disk and took it back home, but nothing happened! Still no results...

Sounds like your Mac just doesn't like that combination.
