I recently had my IBM laptop at work re-imaged. I consequently lost everything in my iTunes. I also recently purchased an iMac and would like to upload the content of my iPod Mini (which has all the music that was on my IBM laptop) to iTunes on my iMac.
How can I do this? I was told that I can't synch (i.e. upload) from my iPod to iTunes.

You can do this but it is not the easiest process. Whatever you do, do not connect your iPod to the recently installed computer and assume it will copy from the iPod back to the machine. It will erase your iPod and that might not be recoverable.
Probably the easiest way to find software to do this is to search on http://www.versiontracker.com within the OS you are wanting to use for iPod software. They should list something you can download, sometimes as freeware, that will allow you to access the hidden files on your iPod to copy back to your computer.
On my PowerBook running OS X 10.4.4 I purchased and have successfully done this for a few friends. The software I have is called iPodAccess.
