I was wondering if there is a upgrade path from OS 9.2 to OS 10?? Can you upgrade from the 10.2 discs or 10.3??

There is no free upgrade path from OS 9 to OS X. Once you have the discs, however, you can go straight from OS 9 to 10.2 or 10.3. If you're running an older machine you need to make sure the firmware is up to date before upgrading. The update needs to be done in OS 9 prior to loading OS X. I can't stress this enough, run the firmware updater BEFORE trying to install OS X. A chart of machines that need a firmware update before going to OS X can be found here...

OK, but is the upgrade a smooth transitioin as far as bringing over files and folders. I understand that OS 9 applications that i have on there will run in classic in OS X, but i will be getting OS X software on there.

When you install OS X, it will install along side of your current OS 9 stuff, all your old files and folders should still be there. The only way you should lose any data is if you erase/format the drive prior to installation.
