Question......I have tried to use my friend's OS X 10.4 disks to upgrade my OS X 10.3.9 Mac Mini but it tells me that "this system cannot be installed on this computer"..........am I missing something here.....I simply put the disk in and hit install and it appears to be working......the computer restarts and the bang......"this system cannot be installed on this computer"
I initially thought it was a ram problem.....not to be

If you are using a commercial copy to do this then I would suspect either the OS CDs or the optical drive in your MacMini.
My real suspicion is that you are using the OS disks that came with another computer, say a PowerBook. As far as my experience goes this will not work. The OS disks that come with computers are specific to that model of computer. I think it might go as far as a 15" PowerBook disk might not work on a 17" PowerBook disk but I seriously doubt that is true.
