Can I upgrade OS 9.2.1 to OS X on my iBook 500MHz w/ 64Mb RAM, and a 9Gb HDD, or do I have too little RAM?

You have too little RAM. The good news is RAM for the iBook/500 is cheaper than you'd belive. Check out

and

http://dealram.com

as well as

http://pricewatch.com

for good deals on RAM for your iBook. Should be under $50 for a ridiculously large (like 256MB) module.
