Update for MacDraw Pro

I have been using Macdraw since it first came out and have literally thousands of files. It is very unstable on system 9, so I am looking for an updated program. Does it work better on system 10? I could upgrade that, or is there a program that can import the macdraw pro files, while maintaining the layers and the scale?

I should think Appleworks or its predecessor, Clarisworks, would cope with it. MacDraw became the drawing component of Clarisworks, so pretty much all of the same features are available, plus a few extra that were added over time. Upgrading to OS X probably wouldn't help, since MacDraw would still have to run in the Classic environment, which is OS 9.
