I think you will need to use commands via Darwin - this site
may help:

This is what I did with my Unix Executable files. Get the file
on the desktop add your own file extention, you'll have to
know what kind of file it is, in my case it was an mp3 file.
There will be a popup window asking you if you really want
to do this and then click on yes.
