I would like to ask for suggestions on un-erasing a
disk partition. I accidentally clicked ERASE rather
than CANCEL while in ERASE DISK... (D'oh!) I've
made a point to NOT do anything that would write
data to that partition.

Is there a D/L utility somewhere that might fix
this? Otherwise, what would be the best chose in
purchasing a disk utility?

Thanks,
Mike

I can say with about 99% certainty that nothing you do is going to bring back that data.

TechTool Pro or Norton Utilities *might* be able to recover *some* of it, but the likelihood of doing so without having them installed *before* the mishap is very very slim.

Ah, but, I thought ALL erase did was wipe the
directory structure? Since this is a non-system
disk (partition) shouldn't something like TechTools
or Norton be able to recover the directory (and
therefore the data)?

Mike, you are correct, erasing the disk
does wipe the directory structure. Now,
try getting a file without *any* information
as to where files are located, what there
names are, how large they are, etc...

Pickle is right, there is no commercial
product that will retrieve your data,
including Norton, TechTool, etc.

Perhaps a company such as DriveSavers
could charge you big dollars to recover
files without type/creator info, file
extensions, or even names. There are
low-level recovery methods that can do
such a thing.

Well, they could probably recover some
directory information to get some files
nicely.
