Turning off the Scanner Lamp

I have a Astra 2200 scanner. The instructions tell you how to shut off the lamp only for PC's. I have an I-MAC os9. I've been shuting off the scanner to shut off the lamp, this has caused me to lose imformation. How can I shut down just the the lamp?

When I installed the drivers for my Astra 2100U, a control strip module was also installed which includes a lamp on/off switch and a setting for how long the lamp stays on.
