Subject: transferring JPEGs from Mac to PC |
Comment: I just scanned some pictures onto a Mac. I saved them in JPEG format. I want to transfer them from the Mac to a PC, but when I do, the files will not open. I tried adding .jpg in the name of the file, but that didn't help. Does anyone know what to do?

Reply: (edit)They should open no prob,if not it's either the extention name or the file name has characters that the pc doesn't support.....try giving them simple short names with .jpg at the end!

Reply: (edit)use some tool like GraphicConverter (shareware) to (re)save the files. And like Andy says, don't use strange characters in the names and add the extension.

Reply: (edit)Firdt verify that they have been saved in the jpeg or jpg format. Afterwards, transfer your files to Windows PC and try opening them with your internet browser(it supports jpg's). If tha t works, then re-evaluate the application that you were originally opening them with, under Windows. There plenty of free image viewers available on the 'net, one of which is Quicktime, avalable @ www.apple.com

Reply: (edit)definitely download a copy of graphic converter. it's shareware but you can use it as a free trial until you realize how superb it is and pay the modest fee. just put all the jpgs in one folder, then go under the pulldown file menu to "convert" and a very sophisticated but user friendly interface will let you convert them in a batch to whatever format you need. click the options button before converting to select quality etc. it's one of the most stable and effective programs ever designed for the mac. also has a great slideshow which allows you to trash pic files on the fly.
