I am a Newbie to MAC...I can't believe how much torture I have endured as a Windows user.
Question: How can I transfer JPEG & MP3 files from my PC to my MacBook? Do I need to use migration software? Or will i be able to transfer MP3's and JPEG's without migration sftwre since JPEG and MP3 are not specifically PC file formats?

Nothing special needed, just transfer them. As you stated jpg and mp3 are not Windows only file formats.
