i was helping my friend on this, and she doesn't really
know english.so,here is the question.
she was using windows xp, and she want to use the
mac osx, so she tried to do that, and after restart the
computer, and doing those wizard things, she couldn't
find her cd drive any more. so this is the first thing,
and also, when she tried to use the mac osx, it
shows the startup screen and then just a sign which
just like the "no parking "sign on the road, but black.
the sign just stood above the apple icon. and the
screen just stops there. plz help me.also, the desktop she's using is a DIY computer,
which you take parts of different computer and mix it
together.

So a 'hackintosh' that can't see it's optical drive.
Running OS X on a Non-Mac is illegal and things like this happen all the time, because the OS has been modified to run on non-Apple Mac hardware. Try reinstalling OS X and also checking the internal connections (data/power) and restarting, or you can try another disc drive. Since this isn't on Apple hardware you can't take it in to an Apple store so this may be unfixable. There is always Ubuntu/Mint, it's free and does almost everything every other OS does. Ubuntu is painless to install and runs fast on 6-7 year old hardware.
