How do i bring up a terminal in os9? and
where is this pickle guy as i am still
waiting for info on my imac screen! oh, and in OSX what is the command to change root password?

You can find telnet apps to download for OS 9, though there is no built-in Terminal.app (or underlying Unix shell to run).

To change the root password, either use Netinfo Manager (under Applications > Utilities) and from the menu choose Security > Change root password, or from the Terminal command line try

sudo passwd root

For most tasks though you don't actually need to be root - you can just use sudo and supply your own password, as long as your account has admin privileges. e.g:

sudo apachectl stop
