Comment: I want to record phone calls using the modem. Here is what I am seeking: - no dialer program. I will dial the phone by hand. - a script or software that will play the phone audio through the modem, then from the modem to the built-in audio speakers of my eMac without timing out; - from there I will connect the headphone jack on my eMac to the microphone jack of my iMic; - then use Sound Studio which comes bundled with this machine to record. What do I need to do this? How do I do this? Can it be done with freeware or better yet, no additional software? How do I send commands to the internal modem?

Reply: (edit)Does your sound control panel allow you to set your modem as an input device? If so, just set your modem as the input device, and you should be able to record telephone conversations with any utility that allows you to record sounds. I just checked my iMac, which is running Mac OS 9.2, and it doesn't allow me to select the internal modem as an input device. I have seen utilities that do allow you to record from the internal modem, but the names of these utilities escape me at the moment. For some reason, I'm thinking along the lines of UltraRecorder or some such app. Gay men don't jump.
