TCP/IP Settings keep resetting

I have a cable modem through Roadrunner on a dual 450 G4. If I shut the Mac down and start back up I cant get a connection to the internet. I open TCP/IP and it looks correct. However, if I move the settings to a "wrong" configuration, then back to the way they should be and choose "save" I can get back online. I had the same hassle with my blue and white G3 I just sold. Any ideas? Am I missing something? I appreciate any help. Richard

Hi,
MacOS unloads the TCP/IP stack after it has been idle for two minutes. Changing the settings, and then changing them back, forces the computer to request a new address. In the advanced mode of the TCP/IP control panel, there will be an options button. Select this, and uncheck "load only as needed":-)
