system font size on iMac DV

Comment:
I just purchased a new iMac DV with Mac OS 9. The system font seems to be very small compared to the systems of the past. The main menu is so small I have to get close to see it. Is there a way to change this? When I startup on the system install CD the text from it is great. I have gone to the Appearance control panel but there is nothing to correct this problem.

When you open the Appearance Control Panel, click on the Fonts Tab. You can chane settings in there.

I had already attempted this. It allows me to change the setting for the views font but doesn't seem to change the size of the, "Large System Font," or "small system font." I can change the font style itself but not the size. When I change the size it only affects the font size on the desktop icons not the Main Menu Bar or the Apple menu.

I'm guessing it's more to do with screen resolution; if you decrease the resolution, the font will appear larger. Your reload CD probably boots into a lower resolution, which is why the system font looks OK then.

Michael C,
Thanks a lot. It worked great. I knew it was something simple just didn't know what.

You could also try getting some glasses so that you can read the small fonts.
