Before I got my high speed connection I had these two products (sygate and MacLan) working together. If memory serves... my macs would initiate a dial-up connection session on my PC if the Mac tried to go on the internet. (the way it should work)

My PC with Sygate acted as the DHCP server for my home LAN and I pointed all my Macs (some were OS9 and earlier) to that machine's IP address to get DHCP service.

I'm not sure enabling DHCP is required, but I think it would be much more complicated to try to do it any other way.

I do not recall any difficulty setting it up.

Hope this helps.

Mike

I seem to recall having to actually enter a DHCP machine IP address for Mac OS 8.x, but in 9.x and X, it seems like it figures it out if you just go to control panels and tell it you want it to be DHCP configured.

Usually people pick 192.168.x.1 for the DHCP box and choose a range like 192.168.x.10 through 192.168.x.50. My boxes are set up like that and all works fine.

What version of Mac OS are you dealing with?
What's the IP addresses of the Win and Mac boxes on your LAN now?
