I have a G4 PowerMac running the OS it came with - 10.2. I ran the Software Updater (?) and it listed a number of items to update, including a 100Mb download to update to 10.2.8. I only have a dialup modem, and have not updated any software on the Mac before (new to this!). I tried a couple of times, but each time the update failed during the download. I presume it's something like the ISP disconnecting me, as I've turned off the network settings to disconnect me on my side.
My question is, how can I accomplish this? One thought was to get a download manager for the Mac from somewhere, and downloading the file directly from Apple, then running it. Or, do the same, but on my PC, where I already have a download manager, but I'm not sure if the Mac will like the update burned on a CD by the PC?
Is there some download manager-like setting on the Mac that I'm overlooking? Something that allows very large downloads like this 100Mb monster to be gettable? I'd prefer to update it via the Software Updater, rather than manually hunt down and download the required files.
Any advice welcomed!
Thanx very much!
