OS: mac o/s ?
CPU/Ram: unknown
Comment:

A friend of mine says he has an "Apple Macintosh Centris 6 11 0"

Looking on the web i reckon he probably has a Centris 610, as i can't find any mention of a "Centris 6 11 0"

He says he needs a Startup Disk, i think the system actually tells him this after initial powerup.

From a couple of the websites i've looked at it would seem that the version of MAC O/S on a Centris 610 is min Mac O/S 7.0.1/or 7.1 and max Mac O/S 8.1

Im not too sure what O/S is actually on my friends unit.

Does anybody have any ideas on how i can create / obtain a startup disk AND does the O/S on the MAC have an influence as to what startup disk i end up using?

Any help on this would be most appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation - Mark....

You can get the software here;

http://download.info.apple.com/
Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/
English-North_American/Macintosh/System/

The Centris 610 came with OS 7.1 and can go up to
OS 8.1.

You can also find links to the software here: http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html

Look for the "Disk Tools" disks in System Software or the "Network Access Disk" in the Utilities section. If needed you can also get a full version of OS 7.5.3 (and the update to 7.5.5) there in form of floppy images.

I had a C610. It's feeble nowadays. I got
one at a garage sale a month ago for two
dollars. As I was saying, it's REALLY
feeble. ACHINGLY feeble. But not
completely without purpose or beyond
use depending on what you want to do.
Stick with 7.1, or go right to 8.1 (only if you
have maxed out on ram). And if it don't
have a CD drive, get on or you will just
curse the poor machine every damned
day of the week.
Ebay or POWERON.com for disks.
