Easiest way is to get Nortons Utilities program and use it as startup disk. It will be on a CD so just hold down and keep holding c on your keyboard to force the machine to boot from CD and then release. Backup your files by transferring them to removeable media or a second hard drive if you have one and then run the repair program, but do backup first. Your previous message asked how to backup ....for a normal simple backup just move your mouse cursor onto the folder or file you want to save and click the mouse to highlight the object and while keeping the mouse button held down drag the item to the place you want to store it .. floppy disk or different hard drive etc. You will not be able to run toast while starting from Nortons as it will not have its extension loaded so could not save to CD immediately unless someone knows a workaround for this. Nortons can be used to recover files and help with backup and file transfer from problem disks. Check all its options as it can also mount disks onto the desktop. You will possibly still have to reinitialise your drive.
