Comment:

my cd drive won't read most home-burned cds.
all store bought read fine and even some
home-made (from many sources) work but most
of the time this message appears:
"This disc is unreadable by the computer. Do
you want to initialize the disc?"
(And these cds work fine on other macs)
any thoughts? thanx...

your cd-rom drive head may be damaged, or the firmware
for your cd-drive may be out-of-date. It may be that the
cds you are writing onto are incompatible with your OS
version, (8.6 in this case), but i can't see why.

What make of recordable CDs are you using?
What Mac operating system are the other macs running?
