Hello,
I manage mac network at my office and we
just set up one of the new dual 1ghz g4's. I
installed all our software and everything
seems to work well, but there seems to be
delays every so often. Like when I go to drag
something it takes much longer to start the
drag then it should. I also redid another one
of our G4's and it is having the same
problem. While my computer, after about an
hour of sitting it has major delays and I
just rebuilt this system. (it was having the
same problems before I reinstalled the os).
Like if when I type it shows like a character
every second. So I have to wait for it to
catch up, or reboot. Anyone have any ideas
what could cause this? Perhaps a worm or
virus? I'm not very mac savy, but I've found
my way around.

Thanks in advance for any help

Are you using OS 9 or OS X?

I'm about 99% sure it's not a virus of any sort.

Lessee...

Quark looks on the network for its own serial number. So does Illustrator, IIRC, and I think Photoshop does too. Any of those could be slowing things down somewhat.

If you boot with extensions off, does the problem go away?
