I am trying to burn audio cd's and am unsure what speed to burn at? I tried one audio mix at 16x of extracted music but it wouldn't play smoothly in my G4 cd drive, yet worked fine in my car. When copying an entire music cd I burnt at 6x and it is fine in either place. Is there a standard?? Thank you for any help!

Hi Sarah,
There is no real "standard" for burning audio CDs,
but a good rule of thumb is to use the slowest
speed that you can possibly stand. Audio CDs can
be some of the fussiest, partially because of the
way they are formatted, and also due to the
incredible variety of machines/environments in
which they must operate. My friends in the audio
engineering business won't burn audio any faster
than 1x. I usually use 4x unless I am burning
something really special. Then I wait a little
longer. All this being said, I have never made an
audio coaster burning at 6x. I just like to be safe,
and fifteen minutes or so isn't that long.Bottom line: Slower is always safer and perhaps
more accurate, but the best test is your own
experience with your system and the devices that
you choose for playback. Some people find that
certain brands of CDRs can handle higher speeds,
but there seems to be little consistency when
used in different burners. Play around a little.
CDRs are cheap.otto

this actually isnt a reply. i dont know how to add a message. i am trying to burn an audio cd with song i have downloaded on napster. when i try to find the files i want to burn, i cant find them anywhere in my hd through the cd burning software. i have already changed them into wav. files. how do i find the files? when i look in napsters folder, and in music there is nothing in there, they are empty. any help you could give me would be much appreciated.
