curious problem:

I'm using a fairly fancy Sennheiser Mic (K6) to record sound through my Sony Digital 8cam (DCR-TRV 620E). The sound is nice clean stereo when I listen during recording and playback on the camera. But...

As soon as I capture the audio/video on the Mac (G4) the sound suddenly is mono (only left channel). I've tried all the audio settings on the camera and it doesn't appear to be a software problem (i-movie and Premiere show same symptom). Could it be the mic plug-in on the camera? When I use the cameras internal microphone the audio imports flawlessly (stereo!) to the computer. But if it's the mic socket how come does the sound playback properly on the camera and not on the computer???
Thanks for your help. Nick
