Recently we put in a Sony DVD RW DW Q28A internal drive in my Power Mac. I cannot get any disks to show up as mounted or burn to it either. When I use a program to burn it says that that drive is busy. It will not even play a DVD movie as my other internal drive did. Can anyone help me, please :(

Try downloading PatchBurn from http://www.patchburn.de/download.html After installing the software, you should be able to use your new Sony drive to read and write cds/DVDs on your Mac (this software lets you create profiles for non-supported drives).

Have to disagree with Outlander's response. The superdrive in my G5 tower had problems, and Apple replaced it (via Applecare) with a Sony DVD RW DW Q28
Coincidentally, I'm now having problems reading data DVDs burned on other computers (macs and PCs). Commercial disks are OK.
