Reply: (edit)Yes, there is a significant speed increase with the G3 card. It makes the computer truly usable again. I have a 400 Mhz card, and it seems like lightning compared to the old processor. Like I said, I have aSonnet Crescendo/L2 G3. I would go with either the 400 or 500 MHz model, but there are also other manufacturers, and you can get good deals on some cards because the companies have gone under (if you don't care about support). Reply: (edit)Another question if it's possible. On the site of EveryMac.com I have gathered that the Processor Upgrade is not available for the StarMax 5000/300, nevertheless it has the same 603e processor than the 3000/200 one, isn't it ?? Thanks. Ghyo

Reply: (edit)Try Low End Mac. The information there is somewhat more reliable overall than at EveryMac, which doesn't have user reports. p

Reply: (edit)A G3 upgrade will help with raw processing speed (like a gausian blur in Photoshop) but the processor speed is limited by the bus speed of your computer. Yours has a 40Mhz system bus and a processor upgrade can only run 8 times the bus speed=320 Mhz. So dont bother with a 400 or 500 Mhz upgrade!
